G.Y. Land, AIAA - Former Professor at GAK Academy.

Gordon Land was born in Hamburg. His mother Sophie Henriette Land was of Bohemian origin. His entire family has been assassinated when he was three days old.

Sophie de Boer (of Dutch origin) and Erich Becker (a French born engineer and inventor) adopted Gordon. He was renamed Jürgen Becker. Eventually, he would change his name back to that of his family name: Land.  This profile is therefore written in the name of Gordon Land

As Jürgen Becker, he attended the prestigious "Humanistisches Gymnasium zu Dortmund" (High School of Humanistic Sciences of Dortmund West-Germany) where he obtained the equivalent of a Higher School Certificate. Two years later he gained his Degree in Commerce, achieved this he became a member of the prestigious “Industrie und Handelskammer, Dortmund” (Chamber of Industry and Commerce).  Several years later he studied sciences at the University of Strasbourg, France.

Jürgen Becker worked in the Management Sector of Philips Head Office and later also in the management of General Electric.

Later he worked upon the development of biopharmaceuticals and bio-cosmetic products for LCB, his own Company and the pharmaceutical company Rovit GmbH, Darmstadt, Germany.

Jürgen Becker became a close associate of Dr.  Schnitzer and Professor Kolath and the "Moenchweiler Aktion" Arbeitskreis Gesundheitskunde, St. Georgen, Black Forest, Germany worked within the International Society on Research of Civilisation Disease and Vital Substances. He began to “fight” against pollution of water and forests as well as in the field of nutrition. Jürgen Becker then began to specialise in the extraction of biological active substances from archegoniate plants.

Several years later Jürgen Becker migrated to Australia and changed his name back to the family name by birth – that of Jürgen Land.

Shortly after his arrival in Australia, Mr. Land worked within the management hierarchy of Estee Lauder, Sydney. He was later employed, in the Head Office of Christian Dior, Paris-Sydney, and Ella Bache, Paris-Sydney as Manager in Charge of all of the Dior and Bache Retails Concessions within the Australian department store chains. Gordon Land was also in charge of training of the Group’s personnel. While with these companies, Gordon Land gave countless national television and radio programs (often very critical) concerning cosmetic, health care products and beauty treatments. His scientific knowledge about lasers and the dangers in their application made him a well-known authority.

From this time, Gordon Land became involved in the prohibition of lasers and electro-physical treatments by unqualified practitioners. In this Land was greatly supported by Professor McCarthy of Sydney University, Professor of Electro-Physical Medicine. Through his expertise, he developed a close working relationship with the AWA Radio Network where Gordon Land wrote, produced and presented a daily program "Looking Good" thus extending his public image Australia wide and overseas.

G.Y. Land never used his real name in the somewhat “superficial industry” of fashion and beauty products. He worked under the pseudonym of Dimitrij de Romanoff. It was his contention that the industry did not deserve of sincerity it totally lacked substance and the true nature of a workplace that bestowed true reward.

In 1988, G. Y. Land returned to his chosen and loved field of sciences. He was appointed General Manger (CEO) of MDS a leading New York (Herkimer, N.Y.) computer manufacturer specialising in computers for satellite and missile tracking as well as for data entry. In 1990, Gordon Land joined the management of the Gestetner organisation as head of the entire computer and peripherals division in manufacturing and distribution of Gestetner now Lexmark products. He was in charge of more than 600 people. These appointments made it possible for G.Y. Land to finance his research in astronomy and the development of the first Super Multi Array Radio Telescope as well as optical instruments. He produced successful laser and image intensifying instruments for science and military applications and he was honoured with the membership to several prestigious Astronomical Societies as well as becoming a senior member of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics. G.Y. Land broadcasted a weekly science program for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC - the official national broadcaster of Australia). To this day, he displays a deep understanding and love of research and lecturing on M42 and M43 of the Trapezium of the Orion Nebular. In 1989, G.Y. Land was honoured to introduce the first Space Science Stamps for Australia Post in Hobart, TAS, Australia.

After an accident in a lift, End of 1989, G.Y. Land became violently ill. This was due to receiving a contaminated blood product to combat an existing bleeding disorder. By 1991, he was very disabled and had to retire from all work.

Under the care and kind attention of  Professor John Dwyer, Sydney University, Chair of Infectious diseases and Head of the Price of Wales Hospital Sydney, his condition was still considered life-threatening, but stable enough to go back to writing and broadcasting.

G.Y. Land then began to devote all of his time to writing, producing and hosting “The German Hour(©”, which went to “air” via satellite to the 360 radio stations of the CBAA (Community Broadcasting Association of Australia), as well as broadcasting to radio stations in many other countries. In all, G.Y. Land produced 127 episodes of “The German Hour”. Finally, in appreciation of his work, the Goethe Institute (Das Goethe Institut) ordered the entire collection of “The German Hour” for their international libraries, the program was broadcast in Berlin, and wherever else the Goethe Institute had their educational centres.

In 1990, G.Y. Land founded a Community Organisation, named The Community Radio and Media Productions© (RMP) with a weekly broadcast entitled “ComputerTalk©”. This topic was a weekly editorial about the computer industry for the print and broadcasting media. The Program went to air via satellite to Australia, China, India, South Africa, and South America.

Anticipating the emergence of the World Wide Web and the Internet, as a base for broadcasting worldwide, Gordon Land started, in 1990, a daily editorial on the website of ComputerTalk©. This was one of the first daily editorials specialising about computers and the computer industry available, as a publication, on the Internet.

Land tried not only alphanumeric broadcasts on the Internet, but also live broadcasts. This began in 1991 with the help of Apple Computers Inc and with the cooperation of some of the advanced computer programs at the Australian National University (ANU) Canberra. These broadcasts were developed by G.Y. Land and some of the computer scientists of the ANU.

The first broadcast transmissions were live interviews with the Chief Executive Officers of IBM, Apple, Compaq, Hewlett Packard, Microsoft and other known companies: worldwide.

In 1993 as the quality of sound transmission on the net improved and IBM and like-compatible computer developers became sound aware G.Y. Land developed a new computer medium called MusicTalk© with excerpts of PolyGram's (Universal Records) large repertoire of Music Classics, Jazz and Film. This was the first ever full music program editorial on the Internet. This happened with the help of the well known producer Jochen Stossberg the director of Universal Records (Philips) Classics and Jazz.

In the early stages of the Internet development, nobody took G.Y. Land seriously, with his Web broadcasts. Years later, the large corporations began producing Internet broadcasting and today it is as common as normal radio programs. Now, G.Y. Land has been left behind and forgotten, for he had never patented his work as he saw it as a pioneer effort. Today the sound quality is better than Stereo-FM and as programs heard around the world in excellent quality his ideas have made enormous profits for many companies. G.Y. Land did years of work free of charge as his contribution to the Australian radio community. Most of his radio programs were written and broadcasted while G.Y. Land was gravely ill, but this is a matter he prefers not to discuss. On the Internet, you can still link up and visit the historic early Web Pages of his “Radio and Media Productions©”. Those interested will find, on Radio and Media web pages the latest editorials, news and broadcasts.

In 1999 G.Y. Land was awarded “Best Producer and Presenter” with his controversial and outspoken radio program "Current Affairs©" and "Night Sky©" (ABC RADIO).

For some years, Gordon Land lived at his historic Hillcrest and Herbert-Leigh Sheep and Alpaca Farms (founded in 1862) in the Southern Tablelands, of New South Wales, Australia. Hillcrest Farm when built was set out among some of the most beautiful scenery of the area, the farms, to this day, afford sweeping views of the surrounding valleys and mist clouded hills.

In the year 2001, he sold Hillcrest and Herbert-Leigh Farms. Land lived with his animal companions on his property close to the Snowy River in the spectacular Snowy Mountains - the Australian Alps, “The Rooftop of Australia”. Since February 2004, he lived in West Africa and he was a Professor and Administrator at the GAK Academy for Computer Sciences and Linguistics at Accra. G.Y. Land is currently writing a book about his life: his beginning, the loss of his family and his often-remarkable life that touched so many famous personalities of the performing arts, theology, politics and sciences. Under a pseudonym, G.Y. Land is also a Murder Mystery Writer. G.Y. Land is a Senior Member of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), Washington, D.C. In 2005 he became Administrator and Professor at the Academy of Linguistics, Accra, Ghana, West Africa where he taught Computer Sciences, and foreign languages as German, Dutch, French and English to professional people belonging to Diplomacy, Industry, and further education.

After a life full of science work he now spends his future time lecturing, passing on his knowledge as well as writing books. During the first half of the year 2008 he returned back to Australia as he was prosecuted and shot by African Military for his outspokenness. He now lives with his new blue Persian Tazi Dog Grizzly Bear in Canberra, the Capital City of Australia. Prof. G.Y. Land sponsors and has adopted children and persons from West Africa. His future aim is to still start a free of charge school institution for gifted persons in West Africa.  A discussion about this was broadcasted in the Radio National Late Night Live Program with Philip Adams, Australian Radio National. All profits of his work are going into his West African School Project.
